If you are planning a Trimester exam you may want to think about getting one. This will be the second step in the trimester diagnostic process and will allow you to check the level of activity of your baby. You can also learn how much fluid your baby needs.
Your Trimester exam can take several forms. The first one is a general exam. The next one is called a peri-natal visit. The last one is called a Cesarean delivery. The results are all used to establish what the baby’s health may be at the current time.
During a Trimester exam you are usually given a gown to wear and an observer that is usually trained in medical procedures will come along with you. You are placed in a chair and an examination is performed. Your legs are positioned flat on a table and your eyes are taped shut. All other body movements are monitored.
As part of the exam you are given some questions. You are given the option to lie down or to sit up. It is recommended that you sit up as this allows the physician to see how your baby is moving, how active he is and how he is responding to external stimuli.
A piece of paper is attached to the head and spine of your baby and he or she is required to crawl along it. The paper is then read to you and a diagram showing the location of all areas of the body is made. The area marked out on the diagram is considered the target area.
An observer will ask you questions to help him or her determine how active your baby is and what his or her physical state is at the time. The exam may also include the assessment of your baby’s heart rate, pulse, temperature and respiratory rates. These three measurements will help the physician make an accurate diagnosis and make treatment recommendations based on the information gathered during the test.
Before you get started, ask your doctor if you should have a Trimester exam. If you are at high risk for developing preeclampsia, your doctor may recommend that you be tested before you become pregnant.
If you are already pregnant, you may be asked to have this procedure as part of your pregnancy checkup. If you think you are experiencing any symptoms that could indicate an ectopic pregnancy or if you are pregnant but have no symptoms at the moment, you may be advised to have the examination.
This type of exam is done to gather all the information about your medical history. You are asked questions about the number of children you have already given birth to, if you had problems with any of these children, if there are any health conditions or diseases you have had, and whether you smoke. or not.
During your exam the doctor conducts several tests. The most common ones are blood tests, ultrasound tests and X-rays.
The blood test determines the amount of glucose in your blood. The blood test measures the sugar level in your urine. The ultrasound test for diabetes will tell if the baby has a high or low blood pressure. The X-rays are used to help detect any abnormality in the baby’s heart or the baby’s lungs.
During the exam, your doctor will tell you when your test is complete. It is a good idea to inform any other individuals that you are pregnant so that they can make plans accordingly.
